When I visit New York City, I typically have a goal in mind to see a few shows but rarely buy tickets in advance. It's more fun to stand in the TKTS line minutes before curtain and see what deal you can get on a great ticket!
I remember my excitement for seeing Next to Normal because it was nearing the end of the run on Broadway, so the original cast had returned to perform. I was especially pleased to see Alice Ripley and Aaron Tveit's names in the Playbill. The musical revolves around a mother struggling with bipolar disorder and hallucinations triggered from the tragic death of her son sixteen years prior. Even though the score has a very upbeat, rock musical feel to it, the show itself is quite heavy. I appreciate actors like Alice Ripley who can continuously and consistently perform a piece such as N2N.
I have that same appreciation for the actors who will be performing N2N at the Zeigfeld Theater in Ogden Utah. Thank you, Rick Rea, for the opportunity to come and listen to a rehearsal and capture a few amazing moments with your actors. I look forward to seeing the show!
