Memory Burns

In the book "Autobiography of Red," by Anne Carson, a photograph is described as "a way of playing with perceptual relationships."  My partner, Cort, introduced me to this book--creating a new direction for me.  My goal as a photographer is not to just take a hundred photos and hope for a few to develop successfully, but to capture relationships, emotion -- "memory burns," as Anne Carson writes.

Even though I rarely show up in my own photographs, I can browse through my collection and remember exactly what I was feeling and why I chose to push the shutter at that moment in time.  I'll admit it--photography through out the past few years has become a very selfish hobby turned profession.  I capture moments that satisfy what I need fulfilled, but still enjoy sharing those moments with others too.
